STRANGER.I have just visited College Temple, sir, and am delicht ed with its location, tasteful im provements and educational equip ments. You should be proud, sir, of having such an institution in your midst. CITIZEN.—We are both proud and grateful, sir, but having been bless ed with it for years, its thirty-sec ond anniversary has just passed, we grow careless as to speaking and writing about it. STrRANGER.—Careless! My dear sir, it is the central attraction of your pleasant town. It is the life of your business enterprises, and a patent centre of refinement and culture. Why, sir, those handsome patent desks each has a couple of ‘smiling faces eager for their ten months’ labor. Ninety pupils an ‘over the full so early in the session, and at least twenty more are ex pected. There are already many boarders. I am told it is quite an ed ucation itself to observe the punct uality, cleanliness and order of the domestic affairs. Why, sir, it is an institution with the grandest range of possibilities, combining as it does strict discipline, thorough instruc tion and low prices. Crrizex. It takes a stranger to discover the jewels at our feet! Tom. Marston, a crazy boy in Gongers, raided the cemetery Fri day night, breaking and turning over tombs, and on Saturday burn ed the Methodist church and ne tempted to burn several dwelling houses. In the attempt to caprirer him, he was mortally wounded. He said “It is God's work.”
