Mono Lake Oil Fields.I ■ ■(Miner, Bodie, Cal.)That the Mono Lake oil region is the realthing is borne out by all those who visited it. In the past few weeks a number of oil experts, some of whom arrive from the oil fields of Pennsylvania, have visited thescene and not one but that has expressedthe belief that it will prove to be one ofthe richest fields in the United States.Hundreds of claims have been staked andnew people are constantly coming in. There has been found two qualities of oil, one is• red oil though of . a good grade and the other a white or parafine. The latter looksand has the same consistency as glycerine. This oil burns freely in a lamp without refining. Experts have pronounced it thenext highest grade of petroleum oil so far found in the United States, the value of the crude oil heing $G per barrel; A diamond drill has' been ordered and is now on theway by one company and will be put towork at once as soon as it arrives. This will then determine the quality, and this is the only question to he determined. That there is oil and of a high grade has alreadybeen established. With oil wells in activeoperation it means at least 20,000 moreSpeople for this section of California. Onlythose who have been through the oil excitements can realize what it means to asection. It means, however, big pay rolls, new enterprises, manufactories and will enable smelters to be erected to treat the rebellious and low grade ores of which Mono county has millions of dollars' worth. All in all, the future of this section is veryrosy indeed.
