The Ladies’ Guild of the Grace Eipiscopal church will meet to morrow afternoon at 2:30 at the home of Mrs. Walter Shelly, on Jefferson street. There will be a regular monthly meeting of the Aid society of the Presbyterian church in commit tee room of the church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. The marriage of Miss Clara Pickering and Arter Osborne will take place Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the home of the bride’s parents, on Summit street. Mrs. and Mrs. Robert R. Rog ers announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Bess L., to Mr. Albert A. Schubert, Thurs day, Oct. 15th, is the day set for the wedding ceremony at the home of her parents on Colling wood avenue. Miss Rogers is well known here, having formally been a resident of this city. A pleasant surprise was plan ned Monday evening on Fred Reineke,it being the 22d anniver sary of his birth. The amuse ments of the evening were cards and music. A dainty lunch was served. Before the company re turned home the visitors present ed Mr. March with a silk umbrel la in remembrance of the day. The guests were Christian Krull, Carl Fessel, Seigfried Poetzinger, Ervin Ort, Henry Reineke, Misses Emma Ludwig, Mabel McCoo ney, Fern Reineke, Emma Ort, Dora March, Lizzie Ludwig and Florence Schlegel. im Some six months ago the M. S. church divided its Sunday school into two sides, the Reds and Blues. The sides that brought in the greatest number of new scholars were to be enter tained by the loseing side. They find the Blues have come out ahead, having brought in 64, while the Reds brought in 30. Next Friday evening, Sept. 18th, this entertainment and social will be given in the church par lors. Free tickets have been is sued to the Blues’ teachers and their scholars while the Reds will pay a dime on account of being on the losing side. A good program has been arranged, which will appear in this paper later on. The public is also in vited with an admission of ten cents, which will entitle them to ice cream and cake after the pro gram. The church will be beau tifully decorated with red and blue bunting, and it promises to be one of the best entertain ments given recently.
