woiufc oe lose.The tug John Evenson, which was badly damaged by fire at Manistee a short time ago, was brought here on Monday, repairs having progressed so far that she is able to run. The upper works of the tug have been thoroughly rebuilt, and she is now in first class shape. New ceding was put in down | to the bilge and new stanchions reaching below the turn of the bilge were put in all , around. Her rail and decks are new, as ; well as the cabin and pilot house, which were made a little wider than before. The work was done by the Laurie brothers,who are first' class ship carpenters, and theyhave been able to do the work better and• • 1 •• *much quicker than if she had been sent to a shipyard. Nothingremftinsto.be done now except painting and finishing up in* side, and this part of the work will be done while she is running, as they have so much work for her in the stone trade that they cannot afford to let her lay at the dock as long as she is able to run.
