Norman Hopkins, the Son of Smith Hopkins Killed by Wheels of Plane. The Portsmouth Sun had the fol lowing on the death when hit by an airplane, there Sunday, of Norman Hopkins, a son of Smith Hopkins, of Kingston. Coroner Virgil Fowler, in announc ing his verdict, said the mishap was purely accidental. Hopkins was driving a team haul ing fodder and was accompanied by his two boys when he was killed. He entered the field early in the morning to bring out a load of fod der and said to have let down the wire airmen had stretched across the lane, and proceeding to the cornfield. A short time later the airmen ar rived and prepared to take up pas sengers, not knowing that anyone had gone into the bottoms. Hopkins and his son, Glen 6, and Oscar, 9, were on the wagon and as they emerged from the field were knocked from the wagon by the plane which was just taking off and which struck the front standard. Hopkins and the younger son were removed to Schirrman hospital. The father never regained consciousness and died at 11:20 Sunday night. The boy is improving. Norman Hopkins, victim of the ac cident is survived by the widow and two sons, Oscar and Glen; Emith Hop kins, father, Kingston, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Hopkins, mother, Dry Run and five brothers, Warren, Germany, Es tel, Wiley and Herrman; and one sis ter, Mrs. Lafe Raynolds, all of Dry Run.
