When Arraigned Before Jury He Takes the Verdict Very Stoicly OTHER NEWS IN COURT The trial of Henry Miller for the murder of Junie Carr came to a close Monday morning at the opening of court when the jury handed in a seal ed verdict. The jury found the defend ant guilty of murder in the second degree and fixed his punishment at a life sentence in the Michigan City penitentiary. The plea of the defendant was self defense, and the case went to the jury about five o’clock last Saturday evening, after five days of selecting the jury, presenting the evidence and argument by the attorneys. The jury reached a verdict some time Saturday night, and on the in structions from the judge, the verdict was sealed and the jury discharged until opening of court Monday morn ing. Quite a number of people have been in attendance at the trial, but it has not created much interest, considering it being a murder trial. The defendant, when brought into a court to hear the verdict read, was handcuffed to Bernard Snow, who had come before the court to answer the charge of wife-desertion and that of Laitleye serious checks. The defendant took the reading of the verdict quite coolly, and seemed not in the least disturbed by the sen tence. The following are the jurors in the case: Virgil Hudson, Beech Creek.
