Another patent was granted E. E. Alderman by the commissioner of patents at Washington D. C. Sept. 6th. It is on a protector for wash boards and fills a long felt want. It is so arranged as to keep the water off the clothing of the operator, while washing is never in the way and can be used on either a single or double washboard. Mr. Alderman has had several bids from extensive wash board manufacturers in Cleveland, Ohio, Bay City, Mich., and Chicago, Ills., who wish to either buy the patent or manufacture them on a royalty. We are informed that of the four patents that have been granted Mr. A. there is not one that he has not derived a'nice little revenue from. ‘““Aldy” seems to know how to invent, and what is better, knows ‘how to get money out of them. H. L. Rice has applied for a patent on a prescription file which may prove as lucrative as his celebrated patent inking pad. Mrs. Chas.
