Jort Slajmt Pailg gtmcs.LQHAT. TOBPARTMENT.couht dodtos.Hank Hammond who was indicted and tried | for assault and battery, with intent to kill Moll Bush, was found guilty of a simple assault and battery, fined one cent and to be imprisoned in the county jail for ten days, and committed till fine and cost are paid or replevied. This is surely a great business, for he has already cost the county a thousand dollars, we think, before this scrape, and since this he has been in jail four months.State vs. Bet Bryant, indictment for larceny, receiving stolen goods; verdict not guilty on the first indictment for larceny, and the others non prossed.State vs. Mary Ann Gorman, larceny c., found guilty and sentenced to three months in the county jail.State vs. Bushubacker, indicted for an assault and battery with intent to kill Obadiah Camick. The juiy in this case went out yesterday evening, and though the case was of the most aggravated kind, such as without provocation breaking Camick’s arm with a club, arid beating his wife and daughter when they attempted to rescue Camick, the jury disagreed. The charge of the court was pointed and save the presence of some faithless jurors, it together with the facts were enough to warrant a verdict ofguilty and the severest penalty. But the way jurors are picked up, and the kind is only productive of the worst consequences.— We give the names of the jury that the evil ones may be known from the good, and hope the former will be noted.Thot.
