Halford, who has just moved to this vicinity from Franklin county, paid us a pleasant visit yesterday and added his name to our list of new subscribers. Mr. Halford had seen several copies of The Leader and says he wants to keep up with the times through its columns. Mr. Halford has settled on the Abe Arrington place, and we are pleased to welcome him as a resident of Lincoln.Cotton is bringing 10 cents in the Brookhaven market this morning. An effort is being made by the bears of New York and New Orleans to press the price down below that figure, but it is hoped all farmers will stand firm and refuse to sell for anything under 10 cents. They will get it if they will only hold their cotton, and may get more.. Texas and Alabama farmers are taking this stand and the farmers can control the market if they will act togeth-The board met pursuant to adjournment, Aldermen Larsen and Parsons absent.The matter of the sale of $10,-500 of Refunding School Bonds, as previously advertised, was taken up at this meeting. The bids filed at the meeting Sept. 5 having been opened and considered, the bid of the Commercial Bank of Brookhaven to pay $10,500 for the entire issue, interest at 4 per cent, per annum, was accepted, and the bonds ordered to be lithographed and delivered accordingly.On motion, the action awarding the contract for the city printing to B. T. Hobbs on Sept. 7, was rescinded on the alleged ground of misunderstanding of the amount usually paid by the city for second and third publication of matter requiring three insertions, and the bid of W. S. L. H.
