Books are Now Being Scheduled and Arranged. Great interest now centers in the public library and reading room, and citizens look forward with pleasure to the time when this con venient and necessary institution shall be opened and the books placed in circulation. The city has been deprived of the privileges of a circulating library for several months, but it has not been greatly missed on account of the fact that the people have never had access to a good library here and consequent ly did not feel the loss of the ser vice seriously. Conditions are changed now and in the future Marshfield will offer opportunities for scouring reading matter at the public expense which will compare favorably with its neighbor cities. And with a little time the efforts of the energetic promoters of the movement must secure a library of Miss Della Ellinwood of Madison, who has been engaged as librarian, arrived Tuesday and immediately commenced the task of systemat ically arranging the books and compiling the necessary schedules and catalogues. As the work of making a‘ complete catalogue and accurately classifying the various works will require considerable time, a brief preliminary record will be made as quickly as possible and the library oper leaving the more particular details to be com pleted later. Miss Ellinwood is assisted by Mrs Margaret Living ston and is rapidly shelving and listing the books with a view to pre paring for the opening at an early date. Several large consignments of new books have already arrived and others are expected, so that the the library will be nearly double its former size. The most approved system of li brary work will be inaugurated and every department will be handled in a business way to avoid any delay in finding volumes when called for or any other disagreeable complica tions. Miss Ellinwood is an adept at her business and thoroughly un derstands modern library methods. Her efforts will not be curtailed by lack of the best facilities and she will be aided by the library com mittee which is composed of W. D. Connor, H. A. Lathrop, E. E. Winch, K. W. Doege, R. L., Kraus, J. F. Cole, H- Wahle and Mesdames W. I. Upham and M. B. Cracraft.
