And Saw No Tracks in the Snow the Morning of the Hinshaw Murder.Danville, Sept. 18.—Testimony for the prosecution in the Hinshaw case is proving damaging to the clergyman, and he now seems awako to his critical situation. The most important testimony has been that of Eva Worrall, who lived directly across the street and looked out immediately after the pistol shot was heard. She testified that she could see no one running away, although Hinshaw was still staggering about the yard. The next morning she could see no tracks except those made by a barefooted man, presumably Hinshaw. On cross-exam ination Miss Worrall * insisted that she did not see men disappearing around the corner of Hinshaw’s house when she went to the door on the night of the murder. Hinshaw’s attorneys and agents had frequently interviewed her, saying they wanted to know what point the grandargum£nt'df theattdtleji petency of this evidence Prosecutor Spaan said: “We will show this jury how every witness was approached by the defense.”Miss Worrall said the attorneys told her she had tlio right to reveal to them the conversation she had with the grand jury, After this Hinshaw’s agent, Dr. Dryden, came to her and questioned her.William Cope stayed with Hinshaw the day his wife’s body was taken to Winchester for burial. The minister was very jovial, he said, and asked Cope if it would be prudent for him to remain in Belleville and what the feeling was. The witness had charge of the revolver after it was found. It was afterward cleaned, but identified by a private mark. Hinshaw had asked the witness to testify to certain facts before the coroner and said he would “fix” the coroner so he would ask the questions he desired. This was done.
