Louise Wilder, director of the Galesburg Human Rela tions Commission, has decided to continue working part-time while attending Knox College. Mrs. Wilder said last month she would resign to continue her education. When her de cision was announced, a fteti tion, signed by 50 persons, was ‘sent‘to City Manager Thomas Herring asking her to continue in the post. “What can I do?’ asked Mrs. Wilder. ‘These people have made me feel guilty about leaving.” Mrs. Wilder and Herring have arranged part-time hours for her. She will be in the of fice from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. each day and will work in the field from 2:30 to 5 p.m. The situation will be ‘“‘tem porarily permanent,” Herring said. Mrs. Wilder indicated the situation may change when her next quarter at Knox begins; her schedule is different. “And maybe the’ new coor dinator won’t want just a part-time’ émploye,’’she add ed. City officials are in the process of selecting someone to direct and coordinate acti vities of the commision and ‘the Equal Opportunity Office. At this point, Herring is con sidering giving..a new test to applicants. Results of an ex amination given last month were not used because some applicants complained ; parts of it were not job-related.
