Inflicting at least seven wounds nenr the heart before he sank to the ground, according to the police.Mrs. Margaret Lckowskl of 117 State Fair Boulevard' saw the man alnking the ice pick into his own chest when she stepped out of her back porch and fearing he would kill himself, called for help. Lynn Bowen, who conducts a fish fry stand at the corner, ran out at the woman’s screams but found the man on the ground unconscious when he arrived.The ambulance surgeon from St. Joseph's Hospital gave first aid on the scene • and ' Flanagan regained consciousness before, being taken to the hospital.He was still hysterical and kept repeating:“Lies. All they say about me are lies.” ..The call to police. brought Detectives Frank Brazcll and Edward Saroncy,. Acting Detective. John Krause. Scrgt. Charles Bussc and. Hanlon to the scene.Detective Brazcll said he learned by questioning persons in the neighborhood that Flannagan had stood In front of the fish fry stand for more than a half hour, mumbling to himself. He said proprietors of the stand did not see him take the ice pick when he left.The youth wandered down State Fair Boulevard about half a block, then entered the old Star Park grounds.The youth’s mother.
