Coroner’s Jury at Koens Death Return Non-Committal Verdict. The jury summoned by Justice Popkes of Midland township to ‘Inquire into ‘the cause of the boiler explosion that caused the death of ‘Henry Koens, Jr., on the Ralph. ‘Salina Place Monday of last week, met Saturday night, and after hearing what evidence was Ivall inte found that the death was caused by the explosion, and that the reason for the explosion was to the jurors unknown. _*Klasa Huisman, owner of the engine, and who was running it at the time the explosion testified that he el ckamined the water guage the morning of the accident, and that it was work ing all right, and also ‘that he had 2 inches of water in the guage at the time of the explosion. He noticed it t hen he started to take in water. He is sure of this, and could assign no reason for the explosion. The steam was not high, in fact he he had. sore difficulty in getting the, maching in position-flat a few minutes before When they had’ started” ‘threshing in that particular spot. It was brought out at the inquiry | att the engine had been codemned by tax -hating, inspector - guns years ago and had not been used into being brought into Iowa’ and rigged up last fall by Mr. Hulsman for corn shelling.
