Hunt, the boss ditcher, were in town Monday, .'Mr. Lenander being called hare as a witness in Court.Monday evening both left tor Chicagoand Ohio, where they went to buy a dredging machine for drain work in the {north end of the county* Mr. Hunt has been experimenting this seasonIwifch a new dredging machine, which has gone to pieces to an extent under the strain of the heavy work. It is found to be not only too light but too slow, and Mr. Hunt wants a machine that will not only do the work but do it rapidly. He has built quite a number of ditching machines of his own and knows what is to be expected. Operations have been suspended for several i weeks as a consequence of the breakdown of the machine.W, 0. TJ. convention held at the Baptist church on Thursday and Friday last week listened to fine papers by Mrs. Amy B. Riley, of Gold-illfield; Mrs. Estelle M. Armory, Dows; and Mesdames D. Gilmore, Carotine A. Ingham, and Emily C. Dodge, of Algona. Miss Robbins’ lecture on Thursday evening on “Life in Manilla” pleased a large and attentive audience. She also spoke at the unionmeeting in the M. E. church Sundayevening, at the close of which the A gona Union received some new mem bers.
