It will be remembered that the beginning of the trouble was the alleged maltreatment of the shipwrecked crew of the ,ship Gen. Sherman. In ISfiSthe United States jsteamer Wachusfctt visited the Corean country to make inquiries after the crew of the (Jen. Sherman, and it is now 6,»id that the Corean government wrote a letter to the commander of the Wachusett which was very conciliatory and friendly in tone, but he had sailed before it wuh received, and it is owing to the mis carriage of this letter that the attack on the , Coreans the present season, by our navy, has been made If this story is true, the United States are placed iu a very unfortunute position.
