North DakotaMrs. Louis Rubel, 44. of Laurens was instantly killed and her husband and two other persons were injured in a head-on collision Friday morning near Belfield, N.D.The accident occurred six miles west of Belfield. on U.S. highway 10. at about 0:30 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Rubel were en route to Laurens from Havre. Mont.. where they had been visiting their son Ronald, who is serving in the air force.A car driven by Mrs. Joe O’Leary of Lindsay, Ontario, crashed into the Rubel car when she turned out to pass a truck. Mrs. O’Leary was accompanied by her husband, who was critically injured.Dickinson HospitalVictims of the accident were taken to St. Joseph’s hospital in Dickinson. N.D., 20 miles east of Belfield. Mr. Rubel. who suffered a broken collar bone, broken ribs, chest Injuries and bruises, was able to leave the hospital Monday. He rctumea to Laurens Monday night with Mr. and Mrs. Egbert Trenary, who had been at their. North Dakota ranch.Mr. and Mrs. O'Leary had just been married and were on their honeymoon. They had sold their own car, had purchased airplane tickets for a special flight and were driving an auto owned by a regular car-rental concern when the crash occurred He suffered a fractured skuiV and other critical injuries, and she had head cuts, arm and leg injuries. and other bruises andBroken NeckAt an autopsy later in Dickinson. It was determined that Mrs. Rlibel’s death was caused by a fractured neck. Her head had struck the cross-bow above I he windshield, and death was believed instantaneous.Mr. Rubel voluntarily sat at the wheel of the wrecked car fot nearly a half hour after the accident. He said he could fee!| his injuries and knew he should wait for trained medical aid before moving around.Services Held | Funeral rites for Mrs. Rubel • were held yesterday (Wednesday). at 2:15 p.m. at the Hitch-eock-McKce Funeral Home and .at 2:30 at the Laurens Church of Christ. The Rev. H. O. Ward officiated. Music included Beautiful Isle of Somewhere'’ and “Old Rugged Cross by a male quartet, members of which were Elmer A. Larson. ChesterLund, G. W. Moor and Harry L. Lund. Mrs. Dale Peterson was organist.Pallbearers were Robert. Essick, William Smith, Marion Reese. Lyle Mlleham. M. C. Buckwal- . ter and Ralph Freeman. Burial was in the Laurens cemetery.Bora in LaurensZola Parks, daughter of Oscar and Cynthia Parks, was born Nov. 24. 1907. in Laurens and spent her entire life in this community.On Aug. 31. 1925. she was married to Louis Rubel. They were the parents of three sons, Kenneth of Ruthven, Clair of Laurens and Ronald, serving in the i air force at Havre, Mont.Other survivors, besides her husband and sons, are her mother, Mrs. Cynthia Parks of Cherokee; four sisters, Elva (Mrs. Clarence) Crane of Cherokee. Ina (Mrs. Charles) Felse of Des Moines. Hazel (Mrs. Frank) Olson and Marcella (Mrs. Arthur) Brown, both of Laurens; two brothers, Floyd Parks of Madison. Wls., and Willard Parks of Ruth ven; five grandchildren and other relatives.Her father and one brother. Roy, preceded her in death.
