District 1, V. F. W. Met In HuntsvilleDistrict No. 1 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars met in Huntsville August 24. The meeting was called to order at 3:45 p. m. by Past District Commander Paul Stevens, who introduced the present commander T. D. McMinn, of Cullman.Comrade Robert Bell, Department Senior Vice Commander, spoke in behalf of Past Commander Stevens, presented a medal f Commandership to Commander McMinn, and made a pep talk on membership.Commander McMinn introduced Department Quartermaster Walker, who gave a report on the department standing at the National encampment and answered many interesting questions from the floor. Vice Commander Butler also spoke at the meeting.£ommander McMinn explained bis “Buddy System” and made the following assignments:Comrade Bell to visit Scottsboro and Pisgah.Comrade Butler to visit Hartselle.Comrades McMinn and Held to visit Hanceville, Boaz and Albertville.Comrade Phillips to visit Arab.
