Jackson from Salt Lake City.Remembers Pat Gass The Sons and Daughters of Pioneers and the Montana Society of Pioneers on the last day of their recent convention sent a tlegram to Mrs. E. M. Brierly of Independence, Pa., and Mrs. Anna J. Smith of Ventura, Cal., surviving children of Patrick Gass, who fought in the revolutionary war, accompanied the Lewis and Clark expedition across Montana, and then fought in the war of 1812The descendeants of Patrick Gass were located by M. V. Conroy of Butte, who has corresponded with both of the ladies.The pioneers’ message to tho Gass daughters read: “The Society ofMontana Pioneers, in annual convention assembled, send most cordial greeting to you, as daughters of Patrick Gass, who was older than the revolution, a hero of the war of 1812, and who, as a member of the Lewis and Clark expedition, traversed the entire length of Montana on his journey to the Pacific Coast and back, in the years 1805-06.Gass at the age of 75 married a young girl. Mrs. Bierly and Mrs. Smith are the children of this marriage.
