This house, the only pialnted one in the whole surrounding' country, lt;at the time, was built in 1854 by Mr. Jake Young, who was a famner, and keeper of a stage stand, and one of a company of men who had a cattle ranch here, 'their cfftle numbering from 7,800 to 8,000 head. Here also * Myers Einstein, miller of old, kept a store. But few persons lived hereabouts at that time. Dr. Taylor lived near where Mr. Homer Hurst now lives, and Murph Young, Erdther of Jenks Young, lived where Mr. Robert Grimer now lives*Mr. Hugh Braswell, and Mr. J. W. Alligood, now* residents of Meigs, were distant neighbors. Now the vicinity is settled up, {almost like a town, the “Whiite House0 still standing. ias a relic of former day$, when the deer and the wild turkey roamed at -their sweet will in their natural I Habitat.
