Portvile. Mrs. H. L. Rice left town Thurs day afternoon for Oneet Bay Mass., where she will be for a fortnight with hher people. Mr. Wm. Halburt formerly from this place now a popular ‘raveling ‘salesman for a stationery house in Philadelphia, left for home Thursday after calling on many of his old friends and acquaintances after an absence of several years. Miss Minnie Middaugh has been visiting in Duke Centre, Pa, this week. Mrs. A. M. Nichols of Title Pt., Pa., returned home Thursday of this week. H. L. Rice our enterprising drug gist and inking pad inventor was in Olean this week on business. Miss Jennie Simpson of 85 Rich mond avenue Buffalo returned home this afternoon. Mr. F. H. Wright of the firm of Percival and Wright,grocers at Ceres, was in town Thursday. Telephone manager Caswell of Olean, was in town this week on business connected with the exten sive business of the Telephone line. Mr. Caswell is the right man in the right place. The carpenters have Mr. Holden’s addition to his store nearly complet ed. Mrs. F. LeRoy of Olean the general traveling agent of a large wholesale house in Buffalo, was in town this week on a business trip. Mr. LeRoy will not teach school this winter as heretofore, preferring the mercantile business instead. Miss Jennie Baker is in town the guest of Miss Ella Comstock. Frank Parish returned home to Du Bois, Pa., this week. The ladies’ aid society held their social this week at Mrs. E.B. Percival’s which was largely attended by mem bers of the churches. ‘Be wise with speed .
