TRUE LOVE’S COURSEA Yours g Han Shot bj His Father-In-Law Fleet—A Sensation at L,onieiana,I Special Telegram to The Evening Star ]Mixico, Mo., Sept. 11.—News reached here to-day of a highly sensational affair wherein a young man was shot and an elopement spoiled. The sensation occurred at New Bloomfield, in Callaway county, Wednesday afternoon. For some months past a young man named Donaldson Dunn, formerly a news agent on the Jefferson City branch of the Chicago k Alton railway, has been paying his addresses to a beautiful and highly cultured young lady of New Bloomfield, a Miss Edwards, and they became so attached to each other that the consent of the girl’s father to their union was a3ked by the gallant lover. The request met with a fiat and emphatic refusal by the old gentleman. The young man was cot denied the premises, however, and the couple were often in each others’ company. An elopement was finally planned and a young lady visitor of Miss Edwards was taken into the conspiracy. It is said the schemewas disclosed to the father by the sister of an intimate friend of long standing to the would-be bride, and he at once began to load his gun. At this time Dunn, Mies Edwards and the latter’s small brother were out horseback riding. As they rode up to the gate of the Edwards home, and atter they had alighted, the old gentleman stepped up on the stiie and fired a load from tbs shot gun into the body of the young man without giving any warning whatever. The wound is a veiy severe one and may prove fa’al. The young lady who compromised her honor in giving the parties away is from Illinois, and much indignation in the neighbor, kood is expressed at her action in the matter.
