Win. 3 ftinegar is to be delivered next Sabbath at half past ten r. m., in the Methodist church at Emerald Grove, by the Rev. Mr. Whitford, of Milton.Mr, Winegar vaa but 22 years of age at the time of his deaLh. At the Lima the call was issued for volunteers he was pursuing his studies at Milton, but he promptly responded to the call, and enlisted iu that noble regiment, the second Wisconsin. At the first battle of Bull Run he was slightly wounded in the bead by a spent ball, blit stili advancing he was again wounded severely in the knee, and was carried from the field. He came home on furlough to recruit his shattered health, returned to his duties as soon as he was able, and was promoted to a second lieutenancy for hia bravery at the battle of Bull Run, his commission dating from ihut any. He was billed oil the 1st day of .J uly while bravely fight-ng in the battle of Gettysburg. We hoped or a short time that the vague report of ils death that reached us wau false, but he snd tidings were soon confirmed. Htu Heeds made an effort to procure the body or interment in the family burying grounrt, nt without success. There was nothing o mark ihe last resting place of the falleD strict. His race is ended: hia mission '□ earth has terminated ’ on the bloody :eld of Geltyoburg, in an unknown grave, j eats the romains of the noble soldier and acriot. Lieut. Wm. S. Winegar, of ihe 2d regiment f Wisconsin volunteers, has been coufim-1, and, Whereas, we, his late neighbors ad friends, are desirous of recording our ?nse af the loss of one so eminent as n ldierand patriot—of one who has given his i fe for the cause of his country ; therefore, ■ Resolved^ That in the death of Lieut,S. Winegar we have met with an ir-;paruble loss, and we deeply deplcre the id evcot which has deprived Dur country r a meritorious officer, a brave man, and true patriot.Resolved, That in respect for the memo-T of Lieut. Wm. S.
