A Lalto of Soapsuds.San Francisco Chronicle. For bitterness and promiscuous meanness* the Waters of Mono Lake surpass those Ot the Dead Sea. They contain so much alkali that on a windy day tlie lake is a regular tub of soap suds. The writer has seen a wall of lather five feet high along the whole o! that shore against which the Waves were beating. Occasionally the wind would take up abunch of this lather as big as bushelbasket and carry it several hundred feet inland. So buoyant are the waters of the lake that (juite a party of men may navigate them on a ralt made of four or five dry cottonwood poles.
