WILD AS A BUCK, .She Wild Man of the Wo;ds Discov-:ered Hear Woodville.*Moberly Monitor, Sept. 8th.The people of Salt River township, near Woodville. are in an intense shite of excitement over the discovery of a wild man in the woods of that vicinity. The discovery ‘was first made on Wednesday morning last, by a gentleman who vras out hunting c itUe, who came upon him suddenly in tiie woods. He was sitting on a log, gnawing away at a raw roasting ear, but, on being approached, he sprang up and striking out in a long trot, quicklydisappeared in the dense arro\vth of timber. The cattle hunter called alter him to know if he had seen any stray cattle, but lie gave back no answer, and only accelerated his speed.Thursday morning he was seen again. A lady in that vicinity had sent her little boy to a pond in the woods to get a quilt which she bad washed. The monster suddenly made his appearance and savagely growled out at the boy to let the quilt alone. The boy was terribly frightened but held on to his quilt and ran to ihe house, startling his mother with the strange story.'fiie singular being is described as tall, powerfully built, with heavy beard, and head covered with a long tangled mat of black hair. He is almost naked and carries iu las right hand a club about three feet in length.TTie whole qouutrv up there is aroused, parties ot men are in search ot him in every direct ion, The most probable theory advanced is that he is an escaped lu~ natie.
