Mr. Editor: You will see in the Yeoman and other Southern papers in the State, a * publication of a meeting held at Hazelgreen, in this county, on Saturday last, (Aug. ol,) called an anti-war, peace, anti-war tax, Ac. j. meeting, and purporting to he without d:s- \ Unction of parties. The undersigned was j present at the meeting, and, taking a remote ] seat, expected to be a mere spectator and non-participant. I was, however, appointed, as will be seen, one of the committee of ten, to 11 draft resolutions expressive of the sense of the people,' touching the objects of the meeting. Upon retiring we found a series of resolutions. prepared for the purpose, which, with additional ones, were adopted bv the committee, and subsequently by the meeting, and forwarded for publication.[ wish to make known to the public, and to the Legislature, the following facts, which shall be verified by any amount of testimony that may he required:1st. The meeting was partial and parti-1 san—there being but a few Union men pres-1 ent. and indeed, hut few who were apprised ol the meeting.2d. The resolutions do not meet the approbation, nor rctiect the sentiment of a large, conservative element of the Legislative district. And,3dly. A large portion of the citizen of the district believe that they are rebellious and i revolutionary in their character.[ dissented from the resolutions before the meeting, stating, as my ground torso doing, that they were rebellious, contradictory, and stuffed up with a verbiage and phraseology peculiar to insurrectionists. I being the only Union man to resist these measures, it was in vain that I moved to strike out, to amend, and even for a division of the question in voting upon the resolutions.Very respectfully,LANDON 0.
