Serious Affair.—On last Thursday night considerable excitement was produced in Holla ou account of the following circumstances : Nicholas Martin, Esq., of thecounty of Maries was in the Saloon of Darden Co, who together with several other gentlemen were sit- j: ting around a tabic, when Mr. John |11 Wood came in, and after addressingMr. Martin and only a few wordsbeing passed, fired upon. Martin | nwith a revolver, the ball taking effect in the abdomen, producing a serious, but ic is believed, not a mortal wound. Mr. Wood fireing onlyonce, made no other attack uponentered into a recognizance for hisWood claims to be perfectly justifiedfortunate affa r, the counsel who appeared for the defendant were the Hon, J. D. Stevenson, Samuel Cr.Williams and G,'F.
