Serious Affair.—On last Thursday night considerable excitement was produced in Holla ou account of the following circumstances : Nicholas Martin, Esq., of thecounty of Maries was in the Saloon of Darden Co, who together with several other gentlemen were sit- j: ting around a tabic, when Mr. John |11 Wood came in, and after addressingMr. Martin and only a few wordsbeing passed, fired upon. Martin | nwith a revolver, the ball taking effect in the abdomen, producing a serious, but ic is believed, not a mortal wound. Mr. Wood fireing onlyonce, made no other attack uponentered into a recognizance for hisWood claims to be perfectly justifiedfortunate affa r, the counsel who appeared for the defendant were the Hon, J. D. Stevenson, Samuel Cr.Williams and G,'F. Harrington.IMartin, but was immediately placed q in the handset* the proper officers,Lj and on Saturday morning appeared before JusticcsMarsh and Dunnivin; having waived an examination heappearance at the next term of the Gircuit Court.
