A large portion of our citizens were fully satisfied that Arthur was guilty of the murder and that ilia, wife and step-daughter wcfo his abettors; and when it became known that be was released, they proceeded, about seventy-five in number, to Mb house hist Saturday evening, 'and notified hirhto leave the State by Tuesday night following, but gave his 'family Wo week longer. They speed-• ily ‘‘packed up, and the whole family left on the packet last Monday night. This family has been living lucre for ■several years in violation of the law which prohibits negroes from coming into this State to reside, and they couldhave--lived bore many years without%being moles tod, had they conducted themselves properly.
