LEGION AUXILIARY GUESTOF MRS. CHARLES MASONThe American Legion Auxiliary met Friday, September 3, at the home of Mrs. Charles Mason, with the President, Mrs. Gammon, presiding. The members were pleased to learn that the Kerrville Unit of the Auxiliary was one of the eight to go over the top in the recent membership drive, and that our membership has now reached 55. Texas has the largest enrollment of any Southern State. In a letter of commendation to our president, the State Presidenturged that we “keep Texas first.”A Rehabilitation Bulletin which proved very interesting was read. One of the most important projects which the Auxiliary has undertaken was begun when Mrs. Gammon put before the members the crying need j for a playground at legion, to beused by the children of the patients. !A general discussion followed, to which Mrs. J. H. White and Mrs. Schwartz of Legion contributed much, since they are familiar with existing conditions. It developed that the members were heartily in favor of sponsoring a movement to build such a playground.Mrs. Gammon appointed a committee composed of Mrs. W. G. Garrett Sr., Mrs. J. L. Pampell, Mrs. E. E. Palmer and Mrs. H E. Mutt to draft I a resolution asking the State Convention to take action on the matterof the playground. The Auxiliary voted to tax each member 25 cents to help defray the expenses of our delegates to the State Convention at Amarillo. Mrs. S. K. Mason and Mrs. J. B. Young■were appointed to collect this.Mrs. W. G. Garrett Sr. offered an invitation to meet with her the fourth Friday in September. After the business meeting, Mrs. Mason served a delicious ice course.
