Tuesday evening Hiram Jennings and Alley Howard, of I Harlan county, ®hot and killed Sam Bailey. The latter, before his death, told this story: Jennings and Howard met Bailey on the road, and asked him to let down the bars that they might ride into his field, which he did. After he bad laid up the bars they told him to hold up his bands, which h® also did, when they shot him through the breast Immediately after the shooting they rode to Mt, Pleasant and surrendered to the county authorities.a® I IS t • m»•
