OBITUARY NOTICES.8. A. Deayley.—Stater Sallie Ana Deatley, the subject of this notice, was born in Kentucky. June 13th 1838; joined the M. E. Church, South, io the fifteenth year of her age, and with her parents, brother and sister Handly, emigrated to this Stato. and was married to Mr Z Deatley, September 15tb, 1857. But how uncertain aro all the relations or ties that bind us to earth I On the 39th of August, 1858, she was called by her Heavenly Father to exchange this world of sorrow and suffering for a peacefal home in heaven. Her ftmeral was preached in the M. E. Church, South, in Eidgley, in the presence of a large assembly of her neighbors. Tho text was Phil. i. 21.Sister S. was of an amiable disposition, and was enabled by grace to bear her protracted affliction witb more than ordinary Christian resignation. Never was it onr lot to witness a more triumphant death. She was surrounded in her last moments by kind parents, sisters, brother, and an affectionate husband, and, for several days previous to her death, she was enabled to give them all up, calmly telling them that they bad done all they could to retain her with them, but that it was the will of her Heavenly Father that she should go. When I asked her if she felt that the Lord was with her, she confidently replied, *• Yes,” adding, witb emphasis, ‘ O grave where is thy victory; thanks be to God, who giveth as the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ;” then reqaested the friends to sing, in which she joined and praised God alond; then exhorted all to meet her in heaven, not forgetting the servants, for they shared in her prayers and counsels. Her last words were, “sweet Jesus,” and calmly fell asleep in his arms.May the Lord sustain tho bereaved family, and sanctify the dying counsels of onr departed sister to the gc od of the deeply afflicted companion, she has lelt for a while in this world of sorrow, so that when hb earthly race is run, they may be united in that bright world, wheTe death never enters.
