HOME AFFAIRS.Brifiol\ Sept. 2. Yefterday ended the Affixes of Oyer and Terminer and General Gaol Delivery for this City and County, when John Hobbs and David Reid received Sentence of Death. Hobbs for Coining.David Reid was convitted for committing the detefta-ble Sin of Buggery on the Body of William Evans, a Lad aboat fifteen Years of Age. It appear’d by the Lad, that at a certain Time and Place in this City, being in Bed with the Prironer, he was attack’d in the Middle of the Night in fo unnatural a Manner by the Prifoner, that he cry’d out, and would fain have got out of Bed, but that the Prifoner threaten’d'*to knock his Head off if he offer’d to ftir; that the Prifoner had actually carnal Knowledge of his Body, (the Circumftances of which Modefly forbids here to be related) and Jo far abufed him, that he procured feveral Witneffes who faw on the Sheets ( which were produced to the Jury) the frightful Eftesofthe Prifoner’s Carnality.Hobbs fince his Confinement has attempted to deftrpy himfelf, and behaves more like a Man out of his Series than a Perfon under his unhappy Circumftances.
