Representative Dawes Dead.It was a severe shock to the politicians when the deatli of Joseph H. Dawes was was announced in the daily papers last Friday evening. Mr. Dawes lias been prominent in political affairs of the city, county and state for a great many years, and was very generally liked by those who knew him. ’It was the desire of Mr. Dawes when alive that his remains be cremated, and his wish was carried out. His was the first to be cremated in the new plant that has been recently erected in this city. The only relative he had in the city was a brother, and strange to remark, the brother made the stone arches in the crematory which holds the urn containing the ashes, and his brother Joseph’s were the first to be placed therein. lie watched it in almost speechless silence last Sunday afternoon.
