NECROLOGY.Jonathan Allea. The death of Jonathan Allee, which occurred on Monday morning: removes from our town an old and highly esteemed citizen. He had been growing quite infirm for months, but was only confined to the house about two weeks. His death was from the infirmaties of age, and like the fading light of a summer day, he passed quietly and peacefully away, being in the full possession of his faculties until the last hour of his life. Had he lived until yesterday he would have entered his 80th year.Mr. Allee was born in Kent county, near Smyrna, September 7th, 1815: He wasraised a farmer, which avocation he fol-_lewed until the spring of’78, when he came to Middletown where he spent the residue of bis life. He was early married to Miss Mary Black, also of Kent county, who died in 1874. His three children survive him, and all live in Middletown, one son Enoch G. Allee and two daughters, Miss Anna Allee and Mrs. James C. Hall with whom he made his home. He also has two brothers, Jacob Allee, of Maryland, and Abraham Allee, of Nebraska.Mr. Allee was a man of very uniform life, and possessing a very kind and gentle disposition, he was never known to have an enemy, or to say a harsh or unkind word of anyone, and in his last days he was a beautiful type of the child-like simplicity together with the mellow experience that co-mingle in a happy old age.He was always a strietly moral man, but ( only in late years did he find the consolation of the religion of Christ. For the past ' two years he was a devoted member of the M.E. church, and a never failing atten- { dant upon all the church services. His whole life was marked for its purity; he was one of the few men who never used tobacco in any form; was genial and social and will be greatly missed from our streets and the homes that he was wont to frequent. His funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon from the residence of his son-in-aw, J. C. Hall; his pastor, Rev. N. M. Browne officiating. Interment at Forest cemetery. His record is a clean one—and he has his reward.
