E. R. M. Rigdpn died at liis residence i n th is xi 11 age last Wednesday after a long and painful illness, aged 51 years. Ephraim R. M. Rigdon, the youngest son of Sidney Rigdon, was born at the city of Nauvoo, 111., in 1840, and removed with his parents to Allegany county in the fall of 1847, and resided at Friendship till he was 10 years old, when lie enlisted in tlie army in 1802, in the 130th Regiment N. Y. Volunteers and served for three years, or during the war; he was transferred to the 1st N. Y. Dragoons and was appointed by Gov. Seymour as 1st Lieutenant of said company on the 19th day of November, 1864., lie -was present at the surrender of General Lee at Appomatox. At the close of the war he returned to Friendship, where he remained till 1885, when lie was crippled for life by a pile of ..lumber falling upon him. He came to Belmont about six years ago, and rev sided here till tlie time of his death. He was a member of the G. A. RV, and leaves a wife and one child, a son. Tlie funeral was held here Friday at one o'clock and the remains were taken to Friendship for interment in Maple Grove cemetery. May he rest in peace!
