Died—At bis home in Hollis, Sept. 3d, 1887, of fever, Clayton I). Jacobs, in the 2Gth year of his age.Clayton D. Jacobs, was born in Mahoning county, Ohio, May 13, 18G3. He came to Kansas in 1871, where he has since lived ; joined the Methodist church in January, 1883, and had been for two years previous a member of the Presbyterian church. On November 23th, 188G, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Smith. In his last hour the hope that had enabled him to live a Christian life seemed to break forth into full bloom as he gave token of a bright prospect beyond. Thus ends the earthly life of one of our best voting men. Though not as much gifted in speech as some, yet always staunch on the side of right. Thus we lose from the community a good citizen and neighbor; from the family a loving son and kind brother; from the Church a devoted member; from the home a devoted husband. *
