UNION WASS STATE CONVENTION! The undersigned, democratic electors of the state of New York, deploring the result of the re cent, convention at Rome—without intending to censure the action of one convention more than the other—and believing that when both conven tions had resolved that they were opposed to the extension of slavery into territories now free, there was no such substantial grounds of difference as should have prevented their united action—and believing also that among the great mass of dem ocratic electors of the state there is not upon this or any other question, a difference of opinion which should prevent their hearty co-operation at the polls, and that in recommending a mass state convention to nominate a ticket which can re ceive their united support, we reflect the wishes and consult the true interests of our democratic brethren, throughout the state, do therefore, re spectfully recommend that they assemble in Mass Convention, at the city of Syracuse, on the 1dth of September next, for the purpose of re commending a democratic union ticket, 10 be supported at the coming election, and to adopt such measures in regard to a re-organization of the democratic party of the state as shall be deem ed expedient. We believe that such convention, acting through committees of two or more, from each assembly, congressional, or judicial district, appointed by the democratic electors present from such district, and representing equally both sec tions into which the democratic party has been unhappily divided, will, if conducted in that spirit of justice, moderation and conciliation which we believe to be characteristic of the democratic masses, must assuredly result in relieving the state from the evil of whig misrule, and in the restora tion of the democratic ascendency. Mr. H. A. Perry takes a farewell benefit, and it will be but doing him justice to give him a full house. He plays Hamlet (for the first time in this city) and those who have wit nessed his performance in other parts, will not be disappointed in his delineation of that character. Among the host of attractions, are Mr. C. Wess, Miss Dorr, Mr. Forrest, and the Misses Ken- BALL, who have become favorites with those who are fond of chaste dancing The beneficiary in this instance, has been suffering from indisposi tion, and it is but justice to him‘that he should be greeted by a full house. Innis Reservation,—Two interesting suits were tried at the recent term of the Circuit Court at Batavia. The suits involved the rights of the ‘Tonawanda. Indians, on the one hand, and the Ogden Company on the other. The suit grew out of an attempt to survey the Indian land, and thereby take possession, and was in fact for assault and riot, involving the par ties in serious damages. James S. Wavsworth, Esq., of Geneseo, was party in the suit. He was fined $100; his asso ciates $20 and $10 each. In the other case, J. Fellows and R. Kendle were cast in a verdict of $825. This is to be carried to the Court of Appeals, Live Insurance.—Guy H. Sacispury, Agent for the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Com pany of Hartford, paid $2,000 yesterday, to the widow of the late Joan R. Williams, who had an insurance on his life with the above Company, to that amount. Military.—The sixty-fifth regiment, under the command of Col. Vrere, will parade on Monday next for inspection and review. Vice- President Firtmors and Gen. Ranpaty will re view the regiment at the old barrack ground at 4 o’clock, P. M. IF The Detroit Bulletin of the Sth inst. says:— The May Flower went out yesterday with a large load of travel. Within the last ten days, we should judge from the arrivals and departures of the boats and cars, that travel had increased fall fifty per cent. I. At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Young Men’s Association, held Sept. 6th, 1845, the recent death of Axselm Barsano, one of the members of this Committee, was made the occasion for some feeling and appropriate re marks, and the following expression on the part of the Committee was unanimously adopted: An All-Wise Providence having taken from us our late associate, ALBERT Barraro—the first member of an Executive Committee removed by death while in office since the organization of this Institution—we take this melancholy opportunity to express our deep sense of the loss which this Committee, this Association, and this community, as well as the family of the deceased, have sus tained in that afflicting bereavement. We recognized in Atzxrr Barxaxp the ar dent, energetic and efficient friend of the moral and intellectual objects which it is the purpoe of this Institution to advance—we have found him faithful to every official trust, confided to his hands —we have found him worthy of our warmest es teem and love, for the many noble an admirable qualities of his frank, manly, upright and social nature—we have rejoiced in his counsel and co- operation in the dates of this Committee—we mourn him now, as forever passed from our midst, to mingle with us no more. To the family and relatives who mourn his ear ly loss, we offer our heartfelt though unavailing sympathies in their home of sorrow. It were vain to recall to their anguished memories how much of joyous life, of brilliant hope, of kindly affection, of true worth has been bur.ed in the grave of our lamented associate. ‘The consola ous that belong not to us to offer can alone soothe the woe of the mourners. The Recording Secretary is requested to trans mit a copy of these proceedings to the family of Mr. Baxxanp, and cause the same to be publish ed, WM. TREAT, Rec. Sec’y.
