Byrd was a disabled Vietnam War veteran and a Pembroke State Uni versity, Pembroke, N.C., graduate who later received a Master’s degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. He was a member of the St. Pauls, N.C., Masonic Lodge 474, member of the St. Pauls Chapter 70 of the Eastern Star, a charter member of the Cahaba Shriners Temple, a lifelong member of the Blinded Veterans Association, and a former resident of St. Pauls and Fayetteville, N.C. Graveside services with full military honors and Masonic rites will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Oakridge Cemetery, St. Pauls, with the Rev. Floyd Helms officiating.
