A. side delivery rake being pulled by a tractor was demol shed when it was struck by a car driven by Arthur Walker Storm Lake. The accident occured Sept. 2 about 81 miles west of Storm Lake on County Road A at 5:30 am. The tractor pulling the rake was driven by Eldon F. Otto, Cherokee. There was no dam age to the tractor and the Walk er vehicle had moderate dam age to the right front. Town Highway Patrol Officer Harold Norris, said the Walker vehicle was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the rake. NEW FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT — Cherokee’s latest piece of fire fighting equipment, a new American LaFrance fire truck arrived on Sept. 1 by railroad and was unloaded Tues day by a company official. The $27,000 vehicle was purchased out of necessity to keep residents insurance rates at their pre sent level. ‘Truck is a 1,000-gallon-per-minute Class A pumper. This exceeds the 750 gallon capacity of other city truck. De partment now has two city trucks and rural truck. Older truck belonging to department has been purchased by an Omaha business.
