Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ferry are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ferry of Sacramento, Calif., who arrived Tuesday. Mrs. Floyd Pro bert of Gering was a weekend guest at the Ferry home. Mr. and Mrs. William Raddatz and Mr. and Mrs. John Treinen returned Sunday from a three week’s tour of the eastern states. Mr. Raddatz attended the Supreme convention of the Knights of Col umbus in Pittsburg, Pa., August 21 to 23. After the convention they spent a weekend in New York City and also visited Hyde Park and Niagara Falls, before leaving New York. Mrs. Don itfield left Satur day for her home in Los Angeles after a visit of several weeks with her mother, Mrs. J. W. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome C. Short returned to Lincoln Monday after noon, August 27th, after attend ing the wedding of Mr. Short’s sister, June, to Mr. Fred Gillig. They were accompanied by Mr. Short’s mother and sister, Mrs. Anna Short and Miss Rudell. Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Martin will leave tomorrow for an extended eastern visit. They will fly to At lanta, Georgia, for a visit with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Lehrer and baby, and upon completion of their visit in Atlanta will go by plane to Philadelphia where they wil visit their son and daughter in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Martin. They will attend the meeting of the American Bar As sociation in New York City Sep tember 17th to 24th. Wayne Hengl left Monday for Chicago after spending a vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hengl. . Guests of Mr. and Mrs.George Fleming bhe fore part of this week were Mr. and Mrs. Joy Unphenour of Beatrice, Nebraska. Mrs. Unphenour is the former Josie Mason of Sidney. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Smith of Sterling, Colorado, were Labor Day guests at the Fleming home. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Proffit of Cleveland, Ohio, will arrive Tues day for a visit with their cousin, Mrs. C. B. Dorwart, and Dr. Dor wart. They are en route to Cali fornia. Miss Sharon Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Brown of Sidney, was one of a class of four teen young women who received their nurses’ caps at an impressive ceremony in the auditorium of St. Anthony’s Nurses Residence in Denver on Sunday, August 26. The Rev. John Regan, spiritual director of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Nurses, gave the address, after which Mrs. Betty Christensen, sponsor for the class, presented the students to the director, Sister M. Hugolina, for their caps. The class then re cited the Nightingale pledge. A reception was held in the lounge of the nurses’ home for the par ents *and guests*of the students: Mr. and Mrs. Stewart, Brown and sons and ‘Miss Rosemary Peetz‘of Sidney attended the ceremony. Rev. Dan Allen left Monday for Denver to attend a Missionary Board meeting. He was expected to return Wednesday evening in time for the prayer service at the First Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jaeckel are spending a two weeks vacation in the eastern part of the state and in Hamburg, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schmitt left Wednesday for a few days visit in Lincoln. They will return to morrow. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hengl and daughter, Joyce, and son, Wayne of Chicago, returned Saturday from a two weeks vacation spent in the Black Hills, S. D., Moor croft, Wyo., Yellowstone National Park, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, California, Reno, Nevada, and Salt Lake City. They visited their sons, Clyde and Harold Hengl and their families in Moorcroft, and Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Hengl at Chilo quin, Oregon, and spent some time in Mt. Lassen National Park in California. Mr. and Mrs. George Fleming accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Francis of Hebron, Nebraska, on a vacation in the Colorado moun tains last week. Mr.and Mrs. Fleming and their son,Philip, had spent the previous week vacation ing in the Black Hills. John Hinrichs, Jr., of Gurley, was an overnight guest of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Craig Tuesday, leaving early Wed nesday morning for Lincoln with a group of other 4-H club mem bers and the County Agents, Miss Violet Shepherd and Ivan Lilje gren, to attend the State Fair. Mrs. Frank Clinton and daugh ter, Miss Geraldine, spent the weekend in Denver, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clinton. They were accompanied home Monday by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clinton, who visited here until Wednesday. Dennis Wamsley and James Wamsley left on Tuesday for Lin coln where Dennis will enroll as a freshman at the University of Nebraska and where James will stay for a week before going to Omaha to attend the University of Nebraska Medical School. Ron Ovenden left last weekend for Lincoln where he will enter the College of Engineering at the University of Nebraska for the second year. The Past Matrons Club will hold a Dessert Lineh at the Yendis party room Monday afternoon at 2 p. m. Mrs. N. S. Miller will be hostess. ‘ Mr. and Mrs. Henry Aistrope of Malvern, Iowa, left Wednesday af ter a short visit with Mrs. Ais trope’s sister, Mrs.F. L. B. Good win, and Mr. Goodwin. They hope to return for a longer visit after spending some time in Greeley and other points in Colorado . Mrs. John Fox, of Holdrege is visiting at the home of her neph ews, Floyd, Walter ,and Louis Miller, and their families. Miss Colette Dissmore left on Monday for Lincoln where she will attend Nebraska Wesleyan University. LOCALS... . . Rev. Harold B. Taylor attend ed the meeting of the Presbyter ian Synod of Nebraska at Has tings College this week. Don Lehmkuh! left Sunday for Lincoln to resume his studies at the University of Nebraska. He was accompanied from Lodgepole by his grandmother, Mrs. Emma Hafer, who will visit relatives at Doniphan, Nebraska. Mrs. M. D. Armstrong drove to Denver Wednesday, returning on Thursday bringing her daughter, Mrs. Glen Nyman, and two chil dren home with her. Mrs. Nyman will stay in Sidney with her sis ter, Miss Sharon Armstrong, while Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong are vis iting in the east. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong will leave tomorrow for Dayton, Ohio, where they will visit Mr. Armstrong’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Armstrong. Tuesday overnight guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Schulz were Mr. Schulz’ brother, Frank and his daughter and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Beek Eyer ley and Bennie of Maxburg, Iowa. They were en route to Medford, Ore., on a vacation trip. John son of Couer d’ Alene, Idaho, are spending their vacation with the Rev. Johnson’s ‘parents, Rev. and Mrs. C. B. Johnson. This week end the Rev. C. B. Johnson, ac companied by his son and daugh ter-in-law, will visit relatives and friends at York and Gibbon. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Stokes have returned from a two weeks va cation spent in Denver and the Colorado mountains. They saw Katherine Cornell in “The Con stant Wife” in Central City. Dr. and Mrs. Marvin Sherrerd and two sons spent the Labor Day weekend vacationing in the Black Hills. Mrs. Ruth Tyler is making an extended visit at the home of her brother, Dr. E. S. Sherrerd, and Mrs. Sherrerd. Chief Don A. Warner and fam ily left Thursday for Fredericks, Maryland, after spending a month with Mrs. Warner’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hengl. They had just returned from Guam where they spent 17 months. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Monson and two children and Mrs. Hannah Monson of Osceola, Nebr., were guests of Mr.and Mrs. Ray Cruise Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hatcher spent the Labor Day weekend in Denver. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thomp son;and family and Mr. and Mrs. Pockton anes oerade of Pueblo, Colo.,..were Labor Day weekend “guests of the Messrs Thompson’s brothers, Fred and Ralph Thompson and their wives. Mrs. Louise Burke and Mrs. Bertha Palmer, who had spent several days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Riggs, left Wed nesday evening for their home in Custer, South Dakota. They were guests of honor at a family picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Runge and family on Friday and, accompanied by Mrs. Riggs and Mrs. Louis Johnson, were guests of Mrs. Ralph Fleming on Tues day. They also visited Mrs. Rose Morgan and Mrs. Ed Runge dur ing their stay in Sidney. Mrs. Bertha Britton left Wed nesday for her home in Bloom field, N. J., after a visit of sev eral months with her cousin, Mrs. Rose Morgan. Frank Frauendorfer ,returned Thursday morning from Humph rey, Nebr., where he had made a week’s combined business and pleasure stay. Mr. and Mrs. Ira C. Wright and sons of Girard, Illinois, left for their home Friday after visit ing here with their daughter, Mrs. Henry Schnell, and family, and their son, Vernn E. Wright, and family.
