The people commenced coming early in the morning and kept up the procession until after noon. The extreme heat and dust undoubtedly kept many away, particularly those from a distance but the crowd was very gratifying to the fair officials. The fair this year is much ahead of the exhibition of recent years and nearly everyone speaks of the large number of exhibitors in all departments. The stock exhibit is particularly good. Many^tockmen from ad joining counties have complimented th4.« department of the fair and also taken the opportunity to buy some of Jasper county's prize winning stock. The large crowd was very well entertained yesterday and enjoyed the program of races and amusements. The races were good, the track record being reduced to 2:1b in the 2:2b pace. The specialities were numerous and all excellent. The Foresters of the M. W. A., and the Boys Brigade gave exhibition drills. Then there were hippodrone races, hurdle leaping, an English fox race and exhibitions by Prof. Mason's troupe of horses and hounds. As a final windup of the days program came the balloon ascension and the daring parachute leap.Following are the complete summaries of the races:Farmer* Single Trot.Rob V. A. Carrier A Son.
