A wedding of interest here was solemnized in the St. Philip Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Ga., Friday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock when Miss Patricia Eileen Ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bartholomew’ Robert Ward of Atlanta, became the bride of Sam Harrison Crain of Jacksonville, Fla., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Crain, 2107 Harrison Street. Dean Raimundo de Ovies offi ciated at the single ring service as the couple and the attendants stood before a beautiful background formed with eight palms and bas kets of white gladioli, asters, pom pons and baby's breath. Nuptial music was played by Mrs. J. P. Cunningham, organist, who played “My Heart at Thy Sweet Voice from “Samson and Delilah,” Overture from “Romeo and Juliet’ and “I Love You Truly.” Miss Natalie Stephenson of Tam pa, Fla., the maid of honor, wore a rose dress with honey colored accessories and a corsage of gar denias. Cullen Crain, brother of the bridegroom who is engaged in de fense work at Philadelphia, served as best man. Ushers were J. M. Staples and W. W. Wildeman. The bride, who was given in mar riage by her father, wore a powder blue crepe dress fashioned with spaghetti edge trim, two-piece ef fect, and eight-gored skirt. She wore a white orchid with deep rose throat corsage and white kid elbow length gloves. Her accessories were wild honey colored. The bride's mother wore beige crepe with brown accessories and a corsage of sweetheart roses. Mrs. Crain, mother of the bride groom, wore a concord wine dress with amethyst trim, white gloves, concord wine hat and gardenia corsage. She carried a handkerchief of white paint lace that she carried at her wedding 32 years ago. The handkerchief was made by her mother. Preceding the ceremony was a breakfast for the bridal party and members of the two families at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Immediately after the ceremony, the couple left on a trip of un announced destination. After Sept. 12, they will be at home at Cath erine Court Apartments, Jackson ville. The bride attended Fulton High School, Converse College and the University of Georgia. She was a copy writer and woman's assistant on “Red and Black,” college news paper, a reporter on “Georgia Arch,” college magazine, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Theta Sigma Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, social sorority, and received an honorary award from Sigma Delta Chi. Mr. Crain was graduated from the University of Texas in 1940 with a B. S. Degree in electrical engineering. At the University, he was a member of the Assemblymen, American Institute of Electrical Engineering, and Eta Kappa Nu, honorary engineering fraternity He was born at Goodnight, and moved to Claude with his parents where he was graduated from high school in 1935. He edited the high school annual. He was graduated from Amarillo College in 1937. Mr. Crain is engaged in defense work at the Westinghouse Manufacturing Com pany in Jacksonville. Announcement of the engagement of the couple was made on the bride's birthday, Aug. 7, and the wedding took place on the 32nd wedding anniversary of the bride groom’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Crain left here last Monday for Georgia to attend the wedding. They will re turn via New Orleans and will visit relatives in Houston, Fort Worth and Decatur.
