OBITUARY OF JOHN HENRY DAVISJohn Henry Davis was born March 18, 1845, near Vernon, Van Buren county, Iowa, and grew to manhood at that place, passed away at his home in Scotland county, Missouri, August 29, 1917, aged 72 years, 5 months and 11 days. He was the son of Isaac and Sarah Davis, being the sixth son in a family of eleven children.On July 29, 1870, he wasunited in marriage to Miss Irene Hathaway o f Union county, Iowa. Mrs. Davis having pre-ceeded in death September 11, 1912. To this union were born six children—five sons and one daughter -l 11 of whom were present during his last illness. Besides his six children he leaves three grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters and a large number of neighbors and friends to mourn there loss.He was an honest and upright man, a kind father and an obliging neighbor always devoted^ to home and family where he will be sadly missed.The funeral was held Friday, Augnst 31, from the Methodist church in Mt. Sterling conducted by Rev. A. L. Jordan. Interment wa3 made in the Harness cemetery by the side of his companion. %*
