Intended for last week. A welcome thunder shower came last week. This will do much toward making the corn crop. Ben Jeffries and Arthur Deen tried to enlist in the navy re cently. They were both reject ed. J. J. Deen sold Ben Jeffries a cow a few days ago. Sid Deen of Arkansas waited T. J. Deen and Lewis M. Walker Thursday. Floyd Deen cave home Fri day from Greencastle where he has been attending school. Misses Elvin, Pearl and Rhoda Esarey, Hazel Sprinkle and Ettinger Sprinkle wer euests of Newton Pollard Sunday. Lincoln Pollard, Ettinger Sprinkle and Ray Esarey were guests of Charley Esarey Sun day night. Charley has three prospective sons in-law. Betsey Jane Saalman, Rowena Saalman and Harrison Toothman were guests of A. A. Esarey Sunday. A crowd of people gathered in at Fred Gremer’s Sunday to chat and eat mushmelons. Roy Deen visited the mayor of Bear Hollow recently. Per haps you think Punch and Mayor didn’t have some fun. GC. C. Saalman went to Illinois last week. Frank Galey and Joe Saal man failed to attend the pole raising at this place on the 11th of August. People are anxious to know whether they are German sym pathizers, whether their are snakes in their roots or whether they are haunted in there sleep or what is the trouble. They say they do not believe in this war and that the soldiers will not get the benefit of the Red Cross money. As for myself I set my money’s worth out of the picnic. Mrs. Neal of Grant Co. is visi ting her daughter, Mrs. Emma Hearey. Edmund.
