secretary ot state.GRAND JURY RETURNS TWO INDICTMENTSThe past week has been a rather quiet one in the district court. Court adjourned Friday of last week and did not reconvene until Wednesday of this week.The grand jury reported Thursday of last week and found two indictments—one against Cain Russell for llrst degree murder, and one against Frank Hufford of Farmington for assault and battery with intent to do great bodily injury. The Russell trial will not come up in this term of court. His attorney is H. B.Sloan. Hufford was arraignedFriday, entered a plea of not guilty, and on his application the case was continued for this term. His attorney is W. B. Newbold.Wednesday Judge Anderson was engaged in hearing motions, making assignments and in disposing of probate matters. The will of the late I. B. Day was admitted to probate and Phoebe H, Day, his wife, was appointed ex-cutrix without bond, as provided by will.Yesterday (Thursday) the court was engaged in hearing the case of Willard A. Wilson vs. James Wilson et al. The parties are from Birmingham and the case involves an accounting for the settlement of an estate.—State Line Democrat.
