Body of Edward Martin Found After an All-Night Search in Front of Pulpit. Face downward In the centre aisle, and directly in front of the pulpit, the Lady of Edward Martin, colored, seven ty years old, was found early yesterday morning in a negro church in Varina District, Henrico County, after an all night search by friends. Death was due to heart failure, and the aged man had evidently expired the preceding af ternoon. Martin was one of the oldest mem bers of the church, in which he was a deacon and active worker. It is thought that he entered the building for the purpose of getting ready for the Sun day service. He was extremely de vout, and from the position of his body. It ia Wkely that he had knelt in prayer and had been seized while on his knees. His face worn against the floor, but his limbs were drawn up in such a manner as to bear out this theory. The aired man was nissed from his home lato Thursday afternoon, and an alarm was sent out through the neigh borhood. Search parties were formed and were out all night. It was along toward dawn that someone suggested looking in the church, as Martin fre quently went there by himself. When the searchers reached the place they found the door open, but none ven tured In until after daybreak. A physician was summoned, but death hind occurred hours before. The county police were notified, and Dr. J. Fulmer Wright, acting coroner of Henrico, went out and viewed the body. He deemed an inquest unnecessary, and ordered the body turned over to relatives for burial.
