ton Visited by Officers. A Large Quantity of Beer,Wines and Liquors Seized. The good people of Rowayton have been making complaints for some time to Prosecuting Liquor Agent E. M. Lockwood of the sale of liquor going on at the Fairview Hotel in that place, kept by Landlord James H. Pepper. The complaints became so numerous that Mr. Lockwood decided to act, and on Saturday night he drew up the necessary papers and placed them in the hands of Sheriff F. S. Lyon Jr. and Officer Thomas Hunt. The officers visited the hotel and found that the proprietor was absent having taken all his guests out in a four, horse carryall for a moonlight ride, and no one was in charge except ing the bartender. A search of the premises was made and 120 bottles of beer and a number of bottles of whiskey, gin and wines seized and carried away. Rev..,C.. M. Selleck officiated in Christchurch, Westport on Sunday. Charles Guarineri of Battery, B. re turned to camp today after a short furlough in town.
