Season Closed in Battle at Barstow on the Past Sunday The Pecos baseball team closed their 1930 season in a blaze of glory Sunday by slapping a 10 to 1 drub bing on the Pecos Valley Rattlers be fore a noisy crowd at the Barstow field. Ralph Bowden attended to the pitching duties for Pecos and Troy Hicks was behind the plate. Cross started out on the hillock for the Rattlers but faded away in the fifth inning under a barrage of hits by the Pecos batters. Cogdell went in for him in that stanza and fared no better. Harris caught for the Rat tlers. Milt Wadley, manager of the team, said that this season was an improve ment over past years in the way of finances, and that the club is already laying great plans for next season. Construction of a permanent baseball park is one of the projects on the state for 1951. The team certainly provided some entertainment for Pecos sport lovers this year and was a valuable asset to the ciy. The American Legion, who sponsor the organization, deserve credit for keeping the team in line.
