Mrs. Mary Holton.Died—Vlra. Mary Holton died Wednesday August 27th, at 9:45 P. M. aged 87 years, 1 month and 12 days.Mary Fretageot Holton was bo-n in Lynn township, Posey county, July 18th, 1832. the only child of Giles and Nancy Alexander. The first twenty-three years of her life were spent on a farm. On Sept. 9th, 1*55 she was married to A. E. Fretageot and came to New Harmony to live, making this place her home for the remainder of her life. After the death of Mr. Fretageot which occurred March 1st, 1873, she married Dr. W. M. Holton, who passe ) away nine ye^rs ago.Mrs. Holton kept house and attend ed to her household duties until two years ego when overcome by the infirmities of age she was obliged to give j up her house keeping and spent the remainder of her life with her daughter, i Mrs. Percy Bennett. Sirs. Holton was one of the pioneers of Posey county and stories of her life aDd experience eighty-five years ago, as told by her with her natural gift of wit and humor will be long remembered by her friends.But at last the candle of her long life has burned down and she has passed peacefully to her long rest.Ths immediate family who survive her are her five daughters, Mrs.Eugene V. Johnson and Mrs. Percy Bennett of New Harmony, Mrs. Will S. Boren of Muskogee, Okla., Mrs. John M. Hale and Mrs. Sarah Lamar of Oklahoma City;besides a sister, Mrs. W.C. Fuhrer of Mt Vernon and O. N. Fretageot and Arthur E Fretageot.
