KILLED UNDERGASOLINE CAR «FAIRBANKS:—John Holla, a section foreman of the Tanana Valley railroad, was so badly injured Saturday evening, August 11th, by the j turning over of a gasoline car on which he was riding that he died about 6 o’clock Sunday morning. He was coming up from Chena on the lit- * tie car, which ran into an open switch at the junction turning the car over on him. It was thought at first that he was merely stunned, but an examination made after he was taker, to the hospital revealed the fact that his neck had been broken and that a rib had pierced one of his lungs.The accident was first discovered by J. W. Neal, superintendent of the government farm, and Andrew Zing, who is working there. Mr. Neal telephoned word of the occurrence to town and Wade H. Joslin, general manager of the road, accompanied by William Christiansen, went out and brought the unfortunate man to the hospital.Holla was a professional railway workman and had been in the employ of the Tanana Valley railroad for a number of years. He had also worked on the White Pass Yukon route. Practically all of the time he was working for the T. V. R. R. he held down a foreman's position. On the Outside he had worked on the Great Northern and other roads.—Gateway.
